Another firefighter succumbs to burns from Tongi chemical warehouse blaze

Nurul Huda is the second firefighter to have died after suffering burns in the blaze

A second firefighter has died from severe burn injuries suffered in a blaze at a chemical warehouse in Gazipur’s Tongi.

Mohammad Nurul Huda, 38, who was assigned to the Tongi Fire Service, passed away around 2:40pm on Wednesday during treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka.

Fire Service spokesman Talha Bin Jashim said Huda had suffered burns on 100 percent of his body during the blaze at the Sahara Market Chemical Factory.

Two more people burnt in the incident are still hospitalised.
