Food Advisor Ali Imam Majumder has been given additional responsibility of the land ministry.
The Cabinet Division in a Monday notification stated the chief advisor assigned Imam this responsibility, following previous notifications from Aug 16, Aug 27, and Nov 10.
Senior lawyer AF Hassan Ariff had overseen the land ministry, as well as the civil aviation and tourism ministry.
Since Ariff's death on Dec 20, no one has been holding the position of advisor in the two ministries. Imam got the responsibility of the land advisor a month later.
The civil aviation and tourism ministry is now under the direct control of the chief advisor.
Imam joined the interim government as an assistant to Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus on Aug 12.
Four days later, the former cabinet secretary took oath as food advisor.
He joined government service through the administration cadre in 1977.
He has also served as a member of the Planning Commission, chairman of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, and chairman of Sonali Bank Limited.
He is a member of the Board of Trustees of Transparency International Bangladesh, or TIB, and a consultant for various projects of the Japan International Cooperation Agency, or JICA.
A native of Comilla, Imam has a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mathematics from Chittagong University.
