The number of hospitalised patients with the mosquito-borne disease surpasses 37,000

Two more people have died of dengue while 1,218 more patients have been hospitalised with the Aedes mosquito-borne disease across the country in the past 24 hours.
The Directorate General of Health Services, or DGHS, said as many as 445 were hospitalised in Dhaka among the new dengue patients until Monday morning.
In addition, 234 were hospitalised in the Dhaka Division, 21 in the Mymensingh Division, 221 in the Chattogram Division, 91 in the Khulna Division, 69 in the Rajshahi Division, 33 in the Rangpur Division, 102 in the Barishal Division, and two in the Sylhet Division.
With the new counts, the number of hospitalised dengue patients has reached 37,808 this year. A total of 188 people died among them.
As many as 3,379 patients are currently undergoing treatment for dengue in hospitals across the country. They include 1,755 in the capital and 1,624 outside Dhaka.
The DGHS has been keeping records of dengue hospitalisations and deaths since 2000.
Since then, a record 321,179 dengue hospitalisations were logged in 2023. The highest 1,705 people also died of the disease that year.
