CA’s Office asserts Ali Riaz does not know his accuser

The special assistant of the chief advisor threatens legal action over defamatory statements

Chief Advisor’s Special Assistant Ali Riaz has protested his innocence in the wake of the allegation made on social media where a woman accused him of “abusing” her.

He said he does not know the accuser.

A statement issued by the Chief Advisor’s Office on Wednesday said the woman circulated a “false, fabricated and baseless” video as an attempt to “assassinate his character”.

The statement said the government was following the matter closely and would consider taking steps over the matter.

Riaz was made CA’s special assistant after his role as the vice-chairman at the National Consensus Commission ended.

A woman with the name Otondranu Ripa has been running a smear campaign against Riaz since Tuesday, the statement given by the CAO said.

“He does not know the woman giving the statement. The assertions made about having contact or a relationship with her are entirely false. He further stated that such false claims are being spread deliberately with malicious intent,” said the statement.

The statement urged the individuals to immediately stop making such baseless remarks. Otherwise, Riaz warned in the statement, legal action would be taken.

After the formation of the interim government, Riaz first served as the head of the Constitutional Reform Commission. He later became the vice-chairman of the Consensus Commission, which was tasked with implementing the recommendations of six reform commissions.

The tenure of the Consensus Commission ended this past October. The commission had drafted the National Charter in July.
