Police have recovered the bloodied bodies of a mother and her teenage son, presumed murdered, from a house in Bogura’s Shibganj Upazila.
The bodies were found in their home in the Upazila's Sadullapur Bot Tola village on Tuesday morning, according to Bogura's Additional Superintendent of Police Hossain Mohammad Raihan.
The victims were identified as Rani Begum, 40, and Imran Hossain, 18, the wife and son of Kuwait-based expatriate Idris Ali.
Police said there was a break-in at the house on Monday night and the intruders subsequently stabbed the woman and her son to death. Relatives saw the bodies through the window in the morning and informed police.
Later, authorities retrieved the bodies and sent them to the morgue in Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Relatives claimed that the attackers looted a motorcycle, cash and around 34 grams of gold jewellery from the house.
ASP Raihan said the victims had several injury marks on the bodies. A crime scene team of the Police Investigation Bureau (PBI) has been inspecting the spot.
The perpetrators will be identified soon and brought under the law, Raihan said.
