The interim government has fully waived excise duty on air tickets for next year’s Hajj, reducing the travel cost for pilgrims to Saudi Arabia by Tk 5,000.

The Internal Resources Division (IRD) confirmed the development on Wednesday.

Hajj-bound passengers this year also enjoyed the excise duty waiver on flights.

In November 2024, alongside the excise duty exemption, authorities had granted relief on the passenger embarkation fee, security fee, and the 15 percent value-added tax applied to airport security charges.
