The government has revoked the appointment of Abul Hasan as assistant attorney general, according to the law ministry.

The order, which took effect immediately after it was issued on Monday, ended Hasan’s tenure after he was appointed to the position on Aug 28, 2024.

The removal follows the recent resignations of two other assistant attorneys general -- Muzahidul Islam Shahin and Ahmad Musanna Chowdhury -- who stepped down last Thursday.

Both cited personal reasons and a desire to dedicate more time to their independent legal practices.

The changes in the Attorney General’s Office come amid a performance evaluation of state law officers initiated by the newly appointed Attorney General Ruhul Quddus Kazal.

The evaluation process began last Tuesday.

The reshuffle and resignations have coincided with this ongoing scrutiny of the efficiency and performance of the government's legal team.
