A man has been shot in Chattogram’s Raozan, just a day after another youth was killed in a separate shooting incident in the same Upazila.

The incident occurred on Sunday night in the South Shamsherpara area of Kadalpur Union.

Raozan Police chief Sajedul Islam said the victim, identified only as Nasir, was targeted and shot multiple times.

“We recovered three bullet casings from the scene,” he said.

Sajedul added that Nasir is a listed criminal and faces six cases, including one for murder.

Locals rescued the injured man and took him to hospital.

The shooting comes amid a spike in violence in Raozan since Aug 5, 2024, after the change in government.

Over the last 18 months, at least 22 killings have been reported in the Upazila, 16 of which were identified as "political" in media reports.

The latest shooting follows the murder of a youth named Kawsar Zaman Bablu, who was shot dead in the Jangal Raozan area early Saturday morning.
