The family of Naimul Islam, a senior officer with the BRAC Bank, has failed to trace him since Tuesday morning, according to a report filed with the Tejgaon Industrial Zone Police Station.
It said Islam has gone missing after he left the capital’s Shyaomli for Gulshan.
“We found that Islam owed money to many people. He used to lend money for his businesses. Our investigation focuses on this,” OC Abdur Rashid told bdnews24.com.
According to the missing person report filed on Wednesday, Islam came to the Tejagon industrial zone from Shyamoli with a friend the previous day.
He had told his friend that he was going to the BRAC Bank headquarters in Tejgaon, but never reached there.
“His phone was found switched off since 4pm on Tuesday. He was last spotted at the Niketon Residential Area,” said police officer Rashid.
He said that the family did not receive any communication in the two days demanding ransom.
Islam, who hails from the southern district of Barisal, lives in the capital’s Mirpur with his family.
