Bangladesh’s foreign ministry on Tuesday said recent media reports had drawn their attention that following the bomb blast in the West Bengal town of Burdwan the Bangladesh-India border (in West Bengal) had been sealed.

“The matter was immediately verified from the concerned Indian authorities who clarified that they have not given any such instruction on their side,” the ministry said.

Earlier, an Indian news agency, IANS, reported that a high alert had been sounded across West Bengal on Monday while security along its border with Bangladesh and other neighbouring countries and states had been beefed up after the Oct 2 blast.

Investigating agencies suspect the involvement of terror outfits in the explosion that took place inside a house in West Bengal's Khagragarh, killing two suspected militants and injuring another.

A senior police officer privy to the investigation had earlier told bdnews24.com that five people believed to be involved were members of the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and had links with al-Qaeda.
