The BNP has announced a six-day programme to celebrate the 47th anniversary of its founding on Sept 1.
Nazrul Islam Khan, the convener of the national committee formed to celebrate the founding anniversary, announced the plans at a media briefing on Wednesday.
As part of the initiative, a seminar will be held at the Institution of Engineers in Ramna on Aug 31. Then, on the morning of Sept 1, national and party flags will be hoisted at party offices across the country, including the central office in Dhaka, followed by tributes at the grave of party founder Ziaur Rahman in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar at 11am.
Besides, discussions and rallies will be held in all major cities and districts across the country on the day to mark the founding anniversary.
A colourful rally will be brought out from Naya Paltan in Dhaka on Sept 2.
Discussion meetings and rallies will be held in all Upazilas and municipal areas of the country on Sept 3.
On Sept 4, tree planting, fish release, free medical camps, and sports events will be held in all major cities, districts, and Upazilas.
A round table discussion will be held in Dhaka on Sept 5. The venue and time for the discussion meeting will be announced later.
Nazrul also announced that a special supplement would be published in national dailies and posters would be released on behalf of the BNP to mark the occasion of its founding anniversary.
On Sept 1, 1978, former president Ziaur Rahman founded the BNP at a ceremony at Ramna Green in Dhaka.
