Rajshahi, Dec 28 (BDNEWS) – Prof Lutfar Rahman, adviser to Bangla Bhai and Jamaat-e-Islami activist, in his confessional statement to the police admitted that he was entrusted with the organisational responsibilities of JMB, a banned militant outfit.
Lutfar Rahman gave the confessional statement to the police on the first day of his first five-day remand over the Golam Rabbani murder case.
He said his responsibility was to drum up public support in favour of Bangla Bhai. He spoke alongside Bangla Bhai at the same stage in Bagmara to serve the purpose.
Lutfar Rahman also said memorandums were submitted to the SP and the DC of Rajshahi on May 23 in 2004 under his leadership.
As per information provided by Lutfar Rahman, Manjur Rahman (32), a close associate of Bangla Bhai was arrested from Bagbar Hamirkutsa area Wednesday morning.
It is learnt that the Bagmara thana police would seek a 10-day remand producing him before the court Thursday.
Manjur Rahman, son of Kalimuddin of Kalupara, joined the militant group after Bangla Bhai began his operation in Bagmara.
Manjur admitted his involvement with JMB during preliminary interrogation.
