Dhaka, Aug 21 (BDNEWS) – The State Minister for home Lutfozzaman Babor Sunday directed the law enforcing agencies to beef up security measure across the country to avert further bomb attacks like August 17 that shook the country.
"The minister has instructed us to keep tight vigilance in the city," said S M Mizanur Rahman, commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), who joined the meeting.
Meanwhile, the home ministry in a letter instructed the district-level officials asking them to hold regular meetings on law and order situation.
The letter, signed by MD Abdul Haq, joint secretary (political), also instructed the concerned authorities to hold regular meetings with the influential people of different places with a view to controlling the law and order across the country.
After the meeting with police, Babor held meeting with top officials of intelligence agencies and the RAB officials.
But the details of the meeting with the intelligence officials could not be known.
According to sources concerned, the police officials have apprised the minister of the progress of investigation.
"We have already arrested 382 people from different parts of the city from August 17 to till date on various charges. Of them 10 were nabbed for their links with bomb explosions in the capital," said a police officials adding: The list of the arrested was submitted in the meeting.
The Inspector General (IG) of police Abdul Qaiyum, four Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of DMP, DC DB Shahidul Islam and other top official of police took part the in the meeting.
Meanwhile, five more arrested persons believed to have involved in Wednesday's serial bomb attacks, were taken to the Joint Interrogation Cell (JIC) of Dhaka for interrogation.
But the joint secretary (political) of home ministry Md Mohsin told the journalists that he did not know abut the exact figure of the people who were taken to the JIC for quizzing.
