The government has launched an online pension tracking service, aiming to fast-track disbursements and ensure transparency.
Highlighting the features of the Online Pension Tracking and Management System (OPTMS) on Wednesday, State Minister for Public Administration Md Abdul Bari said such digital services will greatly help reduce corruption.
Through the service, pensioners will be able to submit applications digitally, track the progress of their applications and make necessary management.
Bari said retired government employees often face delays, procedural complications and unnecessary travel over their pension.
If they can avail online services without going to government officer, it will act as an effecting tool to reduce corruption, he said.
Citing existing provisions, the minister said if a pensioner dies before the 15-year reinstatement period ends, their family will not receive the benefit of reinstatement of pension.
However, he added that there is an opportunity to reconsider this policy to ensure fairness to the affected families.
