Gono Odhikar Parishad activists have blocked roads in Chattogram for the second successive day, protesting an attack on their leaders in Dhaka.

From 12pm on Saturday, they staged a sit-in at the city’s Sholashahar No.2 Gate, halting traffic. On Friday night, Nurul Haque Nur and several others were injured after joint forces used batons to disperse their rally in Kakrail.

The party alleged the attack came from behind by the Jatiya Party, which countered that its headquarters had been attacked by the rally.

Following Friday’s clashes, the protesters demonstrated in Sholashahar at night and returned on Saturday noon.

At the site, young men carried banners featuring the injured Nur, lit tyres on the road, and blocked vehicles with police barricades.

Chattogram police said officers remained on alert to prevent any escalation.
