Call records of 14 suspects submitted to ICT over killings during July Uprising

Call records of 14 people have been submitted to the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) in a case over alleged orders, incitement and conspiracy behind the mass killings during the 2024 July Uprising.

Prosecutor Gazi Monowar Hossain Tamim shared the development on Thursday.

The individuals whose call records have been submitted include former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, former Awami League general secretary and bridges minister Obaidul Quader, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former law minister Anisul Huq, former foreign minister Hasan Mahmud, former state ministers Mohammad Ali Arafat and Zunaid Ahmed Palak, former Rajshahi mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, former Chattogram mayor AJM Nasir Uddin, former MP Shamim Osman, Jubo League Chairman Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash, Chhatra League President Saddam Hossain, Chhatra League General Secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Inan, and former Dhaka Metropolitan Police Detective Branch chief Harun-Or-Rashid.

Tamim said the conversations were recorded between Jul 11 and Aug 4, 2024.

"We have received many call records. However, 14 of them contain evidence of how the alleged genocide was carried out during the July movement and the instructions and conspiracy behind it,” he told bdnews24.com.

“These call records show the conspiracy of Awami League leaders and the government to carry out mass killings during the July Uprising.”

All 14 are facing trial at the ICT on charges of crimes against humanity.
