Dhaka, Jan 15 (bdnews24.com) – The army top brass went through a major shuffle Sunday after the new caretaker government took over.
Major General Rezakul Haider Chowdhury was dismissed three days after he was removed from the National Security Intelligence as its chief.
Armed forces sources said Sunday night Rezakul Haider was fired after he was sent back to the army headquarters. He also worked for the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence.
Brigadier General Abu Mohammad Sohel was removed from the President's Guard Regiment as its chief and replaced by Brigadier General Azimullah Bahar Sunday.
Changes have been made in some other army posts. Brigadier General Hakim replaced Brigadier General Mahfuzur Rahman as commander of the 46 brigade.
Brigadier General Amin Tareq replaced Brigadier General Wajed Thakur as military secretary to the prime minister.
Commander of Ghatail Brigade Brigadier General Abdullahil Azmi has been transferred to the National Defence College.
The Directorate of Inter-Services Public Relations would not give details on the transfers.
ISPR said information would be released to reporters from a special monitoring cell of the home ministry. An official working for the cell told bdnews24.com he would not confirm the reports.
