Ahead of the US presidential election in November, the American Center in Dhaka on Thursday organised a seminar on the theme ‘Women, Politics & Power’.

The US embassy said the seminar was the second in a series of programmes inspired by the 2016 elections.
If elected, Democratic Party candidate Hillary Clinton will be the first female President of the United States.
Chief of Party for Democracy International Katie Croake, Bangladesh Chief of Party for the International Foundation for Electoral Systems Silja Paasilinna, and Executive Director of the Bangladesh Alliance for Women's Leadership (BDAWL) ambassador Nasim Firdaus spoke at the seminar.
They offered analyses on and insights into women’s political leadership across the globe, with special focus on the US and Bangladesh.
Eighty university students, young political activists and women’s rights leaders participated in the event.
