Dhaka, July 20 (BDNEWS) – A serious allegation of grabbing land of a Bangladeshi expatriate was brought against the Concord Group Thursday.
Mujibur Rahman, an agriculturalist, brought the allegation at a press briefing at the Crime Reporters Association.
He also alleged that the hired criminals of the Concord Group, one of the leading real estate businesses of the country, attacked, ransacked and looted the valuables of his (Mujibur) brother, Dr Harunur Rashid, who is now in the Middle East.
However, the officials of the Concord Group could not be contacted for their comments.
Among others, another brother of Dr Harunur Rashid, Mahfuzur Rahman and manager Rana were present at the conference.
They sought interference of the Prime Minister to resolve the dispute.
Mujibur said, his brother Dr Harunur Rashid and his (Harun) wife Dr Monwara Begum bought six acres of land at Moinartek Bazar in Uttarkhan in 1996. Of the land, 1.18 acres were disputed land, which was, later, handed over to Harunur Rahid by the court on October 3, 2005.
Mujibur said, his brother decided to sell the land to the Concord Group in 1999 and later did an advanced (Bainama) deed with them.
According to the deed, the Concord Group had to pay the total amount by September 7, 2000 but failed. As a result, the deed was cancelled according to the law.
Mujibur also said, on July 5, the hired goons of the Concord Group, led by estate officer Masud Talukdar, tried to grab the land and vandalised their property. The criminals beat Rana, manager of Harunur Rashid, and looted the valuables.
"The criminals also broken away the boundary walls of the land," Mujibur alleged.
"Although we informed the matter to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), north zone, KM Obaidur Rahman. and Uttara police, but they did not take any action against the goons," Mujibur alleged.
Denying the allegation Obaidur said police helped Mujibur to get position of the land.
