Satkhira, July 9 (BDNEWS) – Khan A Mirza Masud Jewel, one of the main accused in the killing of Dr Shamsul Alam Milon, a martyr of the anti-autocracy movement, was killed early Sunday.
'Jewel' who was also the president of Jatiyotabadi Matsajibi Dal and formerly a 'terror' in Dhaka University, was killed at Dulali of Khalishkhali union under Tala upazila while coming back from his shrimp enclosure.
Police and family members said, unidentified criminals fired six bullets on him and left the place after exploding bombs.
Police detained Bikash Sarkar, Mongol Chandra and Romen Kundu in this connection.
Meanwhile, Fazlur Rahman, police super of Satkhira told BDNEWS that the reason behind the murder is not clear yet.
Several sources, however, said, Jewel had a role RAB crossfire of extremist leader Shyamol Sarkar.
Besides, Jewel's father and former chairman of Khalishkhali union Moktar Khan was killed in 1995 and two years later the main accused in that killing was murdered.
"Jewel might be killed in a sequel to the killing-for-killing," locals remarked.
