Deep convection is taking place over the north Bay of Bengal and coastal areas under the influence of the active monsoon

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain in three divisions due to active monsoon winds.
The Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra maritime ports have also been instructed to raise cautionary signal no. 3.
In a weather bulletin on Wednesday, the BMD said that deep convection is taking place over the north Bay of Bengal and coastal areas under the influence of the active monsoon, leading to cloud formation.
Under the influence of the weather system, the maritime ports, the north Bay of Bengal and the adjoining coastal areas may experience squally weather.
In addition to the cautionary signals, all fishing boats and trawlers in the north bay have been instructed to proceed with caution.
Most parts of the Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chatttogram and Sylhet divisions and many parts of the Rangpur, Rajshahi, and Mymensingh divisions are expecting temporary gusty winds and light to moderate rain.
Parts of the Chattogram, Barishal, and Sylhet divisions will experience moderate to heavy to very heavy rain.
Chattogram’s Sandwip saw the most rain in the country over the 24 hours to 6am on Wednesday, recording 23 mm.
Usually, 1-10 mm of rain over 24 hours is considered light, 11-22 mm is considered moderate, 23-43 mm is considered moderately heavy, 44-88 is considered heavy, and anything above 88 mm is considered very heavy.
