A Bangladeshi migrant has died in the Israeli attack on Lebanon’s capital Beirut.
Israel attacked the neighbourhood of Hazmieh in Beirut on Saturday evening, according to the Bangladesh embassy in Beirut.
The Bangladeshi victim was identified as 31-year-old Mohammed Nizam. This is the first incident of a Bangladeshi migrant being killed in the Israel-Lebanon war.
Nizam died on the spot around 3:30pm local time during an Israeli airstrike in Hazmieh. He had stopped at a coffee shop on his way to work.
The son of Mohammed Abdul Quddus and Mst Anowara Begum, Nizam hailed from Kharera in Brahmanbaria’s Kasba Upazila.
Air Vice Marshal Javed Tanveer Khan, Bangladesh ambassador to Lebanon, expressed his deep shock over the death of ‘remittance soldier’ Nizam and prayed for his departed soul.
