Dhaka and different parts of the country have seen cloudy skies since Thursday, with no sun at all in some areas. The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has now forecast drizzling rain in four divisions and some regions as well.
The BMD bulletin on Friday morning said there may be light to drizzling rain in the Dhaka, Mymensingh, Barishal and Sylhet Divisions as well as the Noakhali and Cumilla regions.
However, temperatures are unlikely to drop.
Meteorologist Shahnaz Sultana said on Friday, “The weather will remain like this until Sunday. But tomorrow [Saturday] may see the clouds ease. However, the fog will intensify.”
Despite the cloudy skies, the winter chill has eased in Dhaka, with temperatures rising on Friday.
According to BMD data, the lowest temperature in the capital on Friday was 20.9 degrees Celsius, up from a low of 15.8 degrees Celsius on Thursday.
“It might get a bit cold on Feb 3 or Feb 4,” Shahnaz said. “Then it will ease again. There might be a bit more cold weather around Feb 7 or Feb 8. However, there is no possibility of a cold wave.”
The lowest temperature recorded across the country in the past 24 hours is 9.8 degrees Celsius in Panchagarh’s Tentulia.
The highest temperature was recorded at 29.8 degrees Celsius in Teknaf.
