The fire breaks out at the Azhar CNG Filling & Conversion station in the city’s Rahmatpur Bypass area

A person has died and six others were injured in a fire at a gas station in Mymensingh city.
The blaze broke out at the Azhar CNG Filling & Conversion centre in the city’s Rahmatpur Bypass area around 3pm on Monday, Kotwali Police Station chief Md Shafiqul Islam Khan said.
The dead man has been identified with a single name - Himel. He was a private car driver.
Police could not provide any further details about him.
The names of the injured could not be known immediately. They were taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
Md Mozammel Hossain, deputy director of Fire Service and Civil Defence, said: “The fire erupted while the gas was being unloaded from a lorry. Along with the entire equipment of the station, three shops, a private car, and three auto-rickshaws were burnt to ashes in the incident.”
Seven firefighting units brought the fire under control after nearly two hours of effort.
An investigation is under way to determine the cause of the fire, Mozammel said.
