Police have recovered the body of a young man from a diagnostic centre in Chattogram’s Fatikchhari Upazila.
The dead has been identified as Rashedul Islam, 25, who worked as a marketing officer at the centre.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of death.
He was found in a room used by the centre’s doctors at the Heyako market branch on Sunday, where another youth, Md Arman, 25, was discovered unconscious.
Police said the two are cousins, living at Heyako Banglabazar.
According to Bhujpur Police chief Bipul Chandra Dey, Rashedul and Arman had been in the room overnight.
When staff arrived in the morning, they found the door locked and the two trapped inside, he added.
“Seeing them lying inside, the staff members called out but got no response. They then brought a local carpenter to open the door and alerted police,” the officer said.
He added that neither Rashedul nor Arman bore visible injuries.
Arman was taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for treatment, while Rashedul’s body was sent for postmortem.
“Some have said Rashedul was the joint secretary of the student body at Heyako Banani Degree College. However, we have not found any official committee list or records,” officer Bipul said.
