Amid the changing political landscape, the interim government is set to replace ambassadors in 20 more countries as part of a broader reshuffle in Bangladesh's foreign missions.
“Recommendations from political parties for reshuffling diplomats have been actively considered,” Chief Advisor’s Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder said during a regular press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy on Tuesday.
“Several ambassadors will go on post-retirement leave this December and have been recalled. Initiatives to appoint replacements in nearly 20 countries are already underway,” he said.
Since taking office, the interim government has recalled or reassigned ambassadors in several countries and cancelled contracts of officials serving on deputation or contractual basis in foreign missions.
This process, according to Azad, is part of a broader administrative restructuring and is still ongoing.
“These changes involve administrative procedures, so no formal announcements are being made by the government,” he said.
