Four teenagers have been wounded in a stabbing incident in Feni, triggered by a 'haha' reaction to a social media post.
The incident took place in Feni Sadar Upazila's West Sonapur village on Friday night.
Following an investigation, police have arrested teenage suspect in the incident, according to Morm Singh Tripura, chief of Feni Model Police Station.
The injured victims are Shariful Islam, 17, Rizan, 16, Amit Hasan, 18, and Jisan, 17. Shariful and Rizan were transferred to Chattogram Medical College Hospital after their condition worsened.
Tripura said that Niloy, a local teenager, reacted with a 'haha' emoji to a Facebook post by Amit. Later, around 6-7 teenagers, including Amit, confronted Niloy outside the Sonapur Islami Centre, questioning his reaction.
“A heated argument followed and in a fit of rage, Niloy pulled out a knife and attacked Amit and the others. Four teenagers were injured,” Tripura said.
Abdullah Al Mamun, another teenager and witness, recounted: “Niloy first attacked Amit, then came after us with a knife. When locals heard our cries and came to help, Niloy fled.”
The injured were rushed to the Feni 250-bed General Hospital by locals.
Dr Sheikh Saidur Rahman, a physician at the hospital, said: “Due to the severity of their injuries, two victims were sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital. One is currently receiving treatment, while another was discharged after receiving first aid.”
Tripura said police visited the crime scene later that night and arrested Niloy, who is now in custody. Legal action is being initiated on behalf of the injured victims.
