Protesters reject acting Chief Justice Ashfaqul

They demand Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed’s appointment within 6pm

The protesters have rejected the acting Chief Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam, demanding that Supreme Court Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed be appointed to the post within 6pm.

Hasnat Abdullah, one of the coordinators of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement, announced the demand during a protest seeking the resignation of the Appellate Division judges at Education Rights Chottor near the High Court on Saturday.

Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan has resigned from his post in the wake of the students’ movement.

Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam has been appointed as the country’s acting Chief Justice following Hassan’s resignation.
