The interim government is determined to identify and address the barriers to children’s development, says Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus.
"The interim government, formed through a mass uprising of students, workers and the people, is determined to identify and solve problems such as child deprivation, child labour, malnutrition and child marriage, which hinder the proper development of children," he said in a message on the occasion of 'World Children's Day' on Monday.
In his speech, the chief advisor said, "On the occasion of the 'World Children's Day 2024' celebration in Bangladesh, I extend my love and affection to all the children of the world including Bangladesh. The importance of celebrating World Children's Day has reached a new level at the dawn of building a new Bangladesh.”
He said, "Children are the shapers of a prosperous Bangladesh. It is the responsibility of all of us to give importance to the proper development of children to build Bangladesh anew. Therefore, there is no substitute for a proper environment, education, safety, nutrition and healthy entertainment for the physical, mental and cultural development of children.”
“If the children grow up with the spirit of love, compassion and free thinking, they will be able to play a positive role in the building of Bangladesh in the future. Today's children will become artists, writers, philosophers, economists, scientists, doctors and engineers in various professions.”
The chief advisor also expressed hope that the programme for 'World Children's Day 2024' will play a role in the overall development of children.
"May all the children of the world, including in Bangladesh, grow up in safe and in loving care. That is my hope today."
