Bangladesh sees another death from dengue, 163 new cases

One more person has died of dengue in the country in the last 24 hours, taking the toll since January to 19.

In its daily update on Wednesday, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said 163 more people were hospitalised over the period.

A maximum of 13 died of the Aedes mosquito-borne infection in June alone.

The highest number of patients was also recorded last month at 2,907, followed by 1,081 cases in January.

In the last 24 hours until 8am, eight patients were hospitalised in Dhaka North City Corporation and 17 others across hospitals under Dhaka South.

Additionally, 23 patients were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka Division, 46 in Barisal, 27 in Chattogram, 24 in Khulna, 14 in Mymensingh and four in Rajshahi.

Over the past 24 hours, 161 people were discharged.

Since January, 6,267 people have been hospitalised with dengue and 5,793 have recovered.
