Immigration officials at the Shahjalal International Airport have prevented actress and former Awami League MP Suborna Mustafa from flying abroad while later she was sent back from the spot.
The officials stopped the actress on her way to Thailand’s Bangkok by a Thai Airways flight on Friday night.
She was not allowed to go abroad but the reasons behind stopping her is not clear, an immigration spokesperson told bdnews24.com on Saturday evening.
The actress Suborna got the parliament ticket from a reserved seat for women after Awami League formed the government after winning in the 11th parliamentary election.
She served as an Awami League MP from 2019 to 2024.
The government awarded her the country’s second-highest civilian honour Ekushey Padak in 2019 in recognition of her contributions to acting.
