Abdus Salam Murshedy, former Khulna MP and ex-senior vice-president of Bangladesh Football Federation, or BFF, has been arrested in Bashundhara residential area in Dhaka.
RAB announced Tuesday night that his arrest relates to a 2022 assault and murder case in Khulna’s Fultola.
Murshedy, a former footballer, served as BFF's senior vice-president from 2008 until the collapse of the Awami League government.
In addition to his role in football, he was a prominent business leader, serving as BGMEA president and chairman of BFF's finance and referees committees.
Murshedy’s arrest is part of a broader crackdown on former ministers, state ministers, and MPs following the collapse of the Hasina government on Aug 5.
