A man has been arrested in Kishoreganj on suspicion of his involvement in the murder of journalist Asaduzzaman Tuhin in Gazipur.
The suspect, 30-year-old Shahidul Islam, was picked up from the old market area of Itna Upazila, said Md Ashraful Kabir, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-14 (CPC-2) Kishoreganj Camp Commander.
Shahidul confessed during preliminary questioning to being involved in the killing, according to the RAB.
He is now in the process of being handed over to RAB-1, which is leading the investigation.
Tuhin, 38, a staff reporter for the Dainik Protidiner Kagoj, was hacked and had his throat slit at a tea shop near the busy Chandna intersection of Gazipur city around 8pm on Thursday.
Police said he was attacked after recording a video of a criminal act, allegedly committed by the group who later killed him.
After the incident, Tuhin’s elder brother started a murder case at Basan Police Station against unidentified suspects.
The latest arrest brings the number of arrestees in the case to eight.
The investigation is being conducted jointly by the RAB and police.
