BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has warned party members that if they commit injustice, the people will “reject” them just as they did the Awami League
“No one should act like the Awami League. If you do wrong, people won’t forgive you. They won’t love you,” he said at a mass outreach programme organised by the BNP at the Molani High School ground in Thakurgaon Sadar on Tuesday afternoon.
“The way they’ve thrown out the Awami League, they’ll do the same to you,” Fakhrul added.
Urging leaders to act responsibly, he said: “You must become strong enough to stop all wrongdoing yourselves. Tell your district leaders—if they fail to act, hand them over to police directly.
“No one should be allowed to commit injustice or oppression against the people.”
Fakhrul also commented on the return of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, suggesting that any actions taken against her would be determined by the people, due to her alleged past injustices.
“She will never again be able to do politics in this country. Even if she tries, the people won’t accept her,” he said.
The BNP’s goal is to build a happy, prosperous Bangladesh, Fakhrul said. “We don’t want division, we want a Bangladesh built on love. We seek no revenge, no vengeance.
“Despite the injustice and oppression we’ve endured, we are not here to retaliate.”
“Our aim is to build a peaceful Bangladesh through love and unity—with Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, Christians, and all political groups,” he added.
Addressing the Hindu community, the BNP leader said: “I can assure you—during a BNP government, you will be the safest.
“Countless lies are being spread on Facebook and YouTube, so ridiculous that you’ll lose your mind. Don’t be misled by them.”
On the issue of elections, Fakhrul said: “Just look at people’s faces at the rallies—you’ll see they all want change.
“They want to form a government through voting. To the people, the BNP is the most reliable, safest option. They want to form a government with BNP,” he concluded.
