Tarique says cooperation key to building envisioned Bangladesh

He says progress depends on everyone carrying out their responsibilities effectively

Tarique Rahman has said that building the Bangladesh people envision will require cooperation from all sections of society, stressing the need for everyone to carry out their responsibilities effectively.

Attending a feast at Dhaka Cantonment marking Eid-ul-Azha on Thursday, the premier shared the plan while exchanging greetings with members of the Bangladesh Army.

Tarique said, “The government is trying to gradually build the country in the way we, the common people of the country including the soldiers, see in our imagination.

“I could not stay in Bangladesh for many years. I will not go into the reason why I could not stay and you have more or less an idea of what happened in the country, good or bad, during that time. We want to take the country to a better place.”

“We all have specific duties and if we execute them correctly from our respective positions, surely, God willing, we will gradually build the country we desire,” he said.

Tarique said, “On this Eid day, let us pray to God, seeking mercy, so that he may grant us all the ability to fulfill the responsibilities that lie upon us.

“At the same time, by fulfilling this responsibility, we can keep our families, relatives and the people of the entire country safe. We can gradually build the Bangladesh we have hoped for.”

Recalling his childhood at the cantonment, he said, “I’ve come to a place that is deeply connected to a significant part of my life.

“This place is tied to a vast share of my memories—both good and bad, moments of pain and joy, happiness and sorrow.”

Highlighting the sense of responsibility of Army members, the premier said: “Many of you may not have been able to go on leave [on Eid day] due to the country's needs.

“Naturally, people want to be with their families during Eid. On my behalf, I'd like to express my heartfelt gratitude to you for the sacrifices you have made,” he concluded.
