Three killed in ‘gunfight’ between two local groups in Khagrachhari

The clash erupted due to a power struggle in the area, police say

A gunfight has taken place between two groups in the Panchhari Upazila of Khagrachhari. Police have reported that three people were killed in the incident.

Md Ferdous Wahid, chief of Panchhari Police Station, said that the incident occurred on Monday afternoon in Madhu Mangal Para of Chengi Union.

Police did not immediately identify the dead.

Wahid said that the gunfight began between the two groups engaged in a local power struggle.

“Three people died in the incident. We’re trying to identify them. Police have gone to the scene to recover the bodies.”

The police officer also said it was taking more time as the incident occurred at a remote location.

However, the regional organisations have yet to issue any statement over the incident.
