Four people, including two children, burnt in Hazaribagh blast

“They are all in good condition and are receiving treatment at the hospital,” says a doctor at the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute

Four people, including two children, have been burnt after an explosion during the cleaning of a water tank at a residence in Dhaka’s Hazaribagh.

The injured have been admitted to the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute.

Shawon Bin Rahman, resident surgeon at the hospital’s emergency department, identified the injured as Zia Uddin, 42, his two daughters Faria Sultana, 2, and Sultana Rafia, 7, and Belal Hossain.

Shawon said, “Zia Uddin has burns on 4 percent of his body, Belal Hossain on 17 percent, Faria on 5 percent and Rafia on 6 percent. They are all in good condition and are receiving treatment at the hospital.”

Family members of the injured said that the blast occurred as the water tank at the home was being cleaned, he added.
