Following similar reshuffles across districts and the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) has transferred 16 officers-in-charge (OCs) from their postings.
According to an order signed on Saturday by CMP Commissioner Hasib Aziz, 15 existing OCs have been posted to different stations, one has been transferred to the Special Branch, while no officer has yet been appointed to the EPZ Police Station.
CMP Assistant Commissioner (Headquarters and Media) Aminur Rashid told bdnews24.com, “OCs have been posted to 15 police stations. An appointment to the remaining station will be made shortly.”
Under the reshuffle, Kotwali Police chief Abdul Karim has been transferred to Panchlaish, while Panchlaish OC Mohammad Sulaiman to Bakalia, and Bakalia’s Aftab Uddin to Kotwali.
Sadarghat Police chief Md Abdur Rahim has been moved to Bandar, Mustafa Ahmed from Bandar to Patenga, and Patenga OC Kazi Muhammad Sultan Ahsan Uddin to Halishahar.
Halishahar Police chief Muhammad Nurul Absar has been transferred to Pahartali, Jamir Hossain Zia from Pahartali to Double Mooring, and Babul Azad from Double Mooring to Chawkbazar.
Meanwhile, Bayezid Bostami’s Jasim Uddin has been posted to Chandgaon, while Chandgaon’s Zahedul Kabir has been transferred to Bayezid Bostami.
EPZ Police’s Md Kamruzzaman was moved to Akbar Shah and Akbar Shah Police chief Arifur Rahman to Sadarghat, but EPZ station was left vacant.
Khulshi’s Shahinur Alam was transferred to Karnaphuli, while Karnaphuli’s Zahidul Islam was posted to Khulshi. Also, Chawkbazar’s Shafiqul Islam was transferred to the Special Branch.
Ahead of the parliamentary polls, police superintendents across all districts were reshuffled through a lottery on Nov 25.
On Dec 2, chiefs of 527 police stations nationwide -- excluding 110 metropolitan stations -- were also reshuffled by lottery.
