Bangladesh, China foreign ministers discuss cooperation in trade, investment

Dhaka reaffirms it’s commitment to One China policy

Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi have discussed bilateral relations alongside regional and global issues during talks in Beijing.

The meeting took place on Wednesday during Khalilur’s three-day visit to the Chinese capital, the foreign ministry said in a statement.

Discussions focused on investment, energy cooperation, connectivity, people-to-people exchanges and bilateral trade, alongside broader regional and international matters.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to the “Bangladesh-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership”, the One China policy, and efforts to elevate ties to a higher level, the statement said.

Earlier in the day, the delegation led by Rahman also met Wang Huning, chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.

The ministry said both sides reiterated their commitment to deepening cooperation in trade, investment, connectivity and development under the strategic partnership framework.
