A man has died while trying to stop a clash between two families at a village in Gopalganj’s Muksudpur. Five other people were injured in the clash.

The incident occurred in Mohishtoli village in Nanikhir Union, said Inspector Mostafa Kamal of Muksudpur Police Station.

The deceased was local resident Satish Roy, 55.

Inspector Kamal said an argument began between village residents Sudeep Moulik and Milon Mandul over the disconnection of a power line around 9pm, Inspector Kamal said.

At one point, the families of Moulik and Milon began clashing with sticks and shields.

Satish attempted to stop the fight but was critically injured from a blow to the back of the head.

He was rushed to Muksudpur Upazila Hospital, where a doctor declared him dead.

Many have fled the area to avoid responsibility over the incident, locals say.

Inspector Kamal said that police have yet to start a raid or detain any suspects. However, they have been deployed and the situation is under control.
