The interim government is set to inaugurate a special waiting lounge for expatriate workers travelling through Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus will unveil the lounge after returning from the COP29 climate summit on Thursday evening.
He left the country on Monday to attend the climate summit in Baku, Azerbaijan. He had opened a special lounge at the airport called the ‘Probashi Lounge’ for Bangladesh’s expatriate workers on that day.
It was developed in association with the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas and the International Organization for Migration, or IOM.
The new waiting lounge has been set up in coordination with the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh, or CAAB, and the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.
It is located on the first floor at the multi-level car park end of the airport.
The lounge offers comfortable and spacious rooms with a wide range of amenities such as a designated waiting area, baby-care rooms, prayer facilities for men and women, and a low-cost cafeteria.
The airport's Executive Director Group Captain Muhammed Kamrul Islam said, "This initiative has been taken so that passengers arriving at the airport early can spend the last hours before their trip with their families.”
"We are proud to serve our beloved passengers," he added.
