Three die in truck-microbus collision in Kurigram

The microbus driver is among those killed

Three people, including a child, have been killed and 11 others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a microbus in Kurigram’s Nageshwari.

The accident occurred around 11pm on Tuesday, resulting in the deaths of two men, including the microbus driver and a young girl.

Nageshwari Police chief Abdullah Hil Zaman said the bodies of the dead have been recovered and the injured have been hospitalised.

Citing local residents, police said the head-on collision took place in the Basherthol area of Beparihat under Sontashpur Union in Nageshwari.

The crash involved a stone-laden truck travelling from Bhurungamari towards Kurigram and the oncoming microbus.

The officer noted that Fire Service and police personnel rescued the injured, who were dispatched for medical treatment to Nageshwari Upazila Health Complex, Kurigram Sadar Hospital, and Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
