The Chittagong University administration has decided to cover the medical expenses of injured students, form an investigation committee, and take legal action following the clashes between students and villagers.
The decisions were announced by Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Kamal Uddin after a meeting of a committee comprising locals, students, and university authorities on Monday.
He told bdnews24.com, “The university authorities formed a coordination committee with representatives of locals and students. The committee met in the afternoon to hear opinions from different parties.
“After the meeting, the university authorities made several decisions, including covering the students’ medical expenses.”
It has also been decided to form a committee to ensure the students’ proper treatment, he said.
Considering the overall situation, the authorities have decided to form an investigation committee, file a case, and convene a syndicate meeting on Tuesday, he said.
“A committee comprising university representatives and locals of Jobra village will be formed to prevent similar incidents in the future.”
According to Kamal, the university administration will request a police box at the Model Police Station and the campus rail crossing, and plans to launch a student safety hotline.
