Five Appellate Division justices decide to resign

The decisions follow the resignation of Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan

Following the resignation of the chief justice, five other justices in the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court have also decided to resign, according to an official.

On condition of anonymity, the official confirmed that five other justices in the highest court in Bangladesh are stepping aside.

They are Justice M Enayetur Rahim, Justice Abu Zafor Siddique, Justice Mohammad Jahangir Hossain, Justice Md Shahinur Islam, and Justice Kashefa Hussain.

However, Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam will not resign, they said.

Though there are rumours that Justice Islam will take on the post of acting chief justice, the official could not confirm it.
