The Bangladesh Army has issued a warning against the unauthorised use of its name in attempts to take control of Jhut, or textile waste, businesses in industrial areas.
In a statement by the Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) on Friday, the army urged the public to report any such incident.
"It has been noticed that some unscrupulous individuals and vested interest groups have been using the names of army officers to take proprietary control of Jhut businesses and engaging in fraudulent activities, tarnishing the reputation of the army," the statement said.
The army clarified that it does not provide recommendations for Jhut or any other business, as it falls beyond the purview of its duties.
"The Bangladesh Army has been working tirelessly to maintain law and order and ensure a productive working environment in industrial areas," the statement added.
The army warned that anyone attempting to use the names of its officers for illegal gains or privileges will face legal action.
The army called on the public to report such activities to the following numbers: 01769091020, 017669095198, and 01769095209.
