Two people have been killed and several others injured in a clash over a football match in Dowarabazar Upazila in Sunamganj.

Police said the violent clash occurred in Lakshmipur village on Friday.

Among the dead were Abdul Matin and another identified only as Akbar.

According to police and local residents, an argument broke out between the groups during the football match, later turning into a clash.

Matin and Akbar were gravely injured in the fight and taken to the hospital, where they died during treatment.

Dowarabazar Police Station chief Zahidul Haque told bdnews24.com that police have been deployed in the area after the clash, and the situation is under control.

Preparations are underway to file a case in this incident, he added.
