Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has extended greetings to President Donald Trump congratulating him on the occasion of the 250th Independence Day of the United States.
The premier’s Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon said Tarique had written to the US president on Saturday, reaffirming Bangladesh's commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The prime minister also conveyed congratulations on behalf of the government and people of Bangladesh while praising Trump for his “pragmatic” leadership.
“Over the past five decades, our bilateral ties have evolved into a robust and multifaceted partnership encompassing trade and investment, education, defence, and extensive people-to-people connection,” Tarique recounted.
“Now, we have entered a new chapter in our relationship with substantial progress achieved since the beginning of this year in the areas of trade, energy cooperation and investment,” he added.
The premier also thanked the US for its support over the Rohingya issue.
“Rest assured that my government and I will continue to work with you and your administration to further strengthen and deepen our partnership in the areas of our shared interests,” he said.
