At least 16 people including Salman F Rahman, former private investment and industry advisor to ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, former law minister Anisul Huq, former food minister Qamrul Islam, Jatiya Samajtrantik Dal President and former minister Hasanul Haq Inu, Workers Party President and former minister Rashed Khan Menon have been shown arrested in separate cases with different police stations in the capital filed regarding the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Additional Magistrate Ziadur Rahman issued the order after a hearing on Monday.

The others shown arrested are former social welfare minister Dipu Moni, former police story Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, ex-MP Haji Mohammad Salim, former state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, NASA Group Chairman and ex-chairman of EXIM Bank Nazrul Islam Majumdar, former IGP Shahidul Hoque, ex-MP ABM Fazle Karim, ex-councillors Jamal Mostafa, Sabbir Ahmed Shopon, Md Julhas, and Chowdhury Jahangir Alam.

Public Prosecutor Omar Faruq Faruqi of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court has confirmed the information.

Police brought the suspects to the court from jail. Then the respective investigation officers pleaded to show them arrested in separate cases filed with different police stations in Dhaka.

PP Faruqi, representing the state, petitioned to show them arrested while the defence counsels opposed him. The court issued the order after hearing from both sides.
