A father and son who went to swim in the ocean at Sayeman Point on Cox’s Bazar beach have died.

The incident occurred around 2pm on Monday, according to Ilias Khan, acting chief of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model Police Station.

Ilias identified the dead as Shaheenur Rahman, 60, and his son Sifat, 20. The two had come to Cox’s Bazar on a trip from Rajshahi.

CCF Lifeguard Senior Official Saifullah Sifat said that the two had gone to swim and were swept away. Upon spotting them, lifeguards on duty conducted a rescue and rushed them to hospital.

Saifullah said that they vomited up excess amounts of blood after reaching the hospital and then died.

The bodies have been kept at the Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue, said Acting OC Ilias.
