As the announcement of the schedule for the parliamentary election nears, the Election Commission led by AMM Nasir Uddin is going to meet Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus.
Following a commission meeting on Sunday, the chief election commissioner and the four other commissioners left for a courtesy meeting with Yunus.
The commissioners are Abdur Rahmanel Masud, Md Anwarul Islam Sarker, Tahmida Ahmed and Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah.
The meeting is being held at the chief advisor’s official residence Jamuna.
Election Commissioner Masud said, “Overall issues will be discussed [at the meeting]. After that, a meeting with the president is scheduled for the 10th of December.”
He said the election schedule would be announced on any day during the second week of December following the meeting with the president.
The parliamentary election and the national referendum are set to be held on the same day in the first half of February.
The EC has decided to extend voting hours by one hour. Voting will continue uninterrupted from 7:30am to 4:30pm.
The Nasir-led commission was appointed on Nov 21, 2024. Akhtar Ahmed is the secretary of the commission.
